Meat My Uncle By Erez Y Balen, Tom Foster & Arvin Valenzuela

Hello, guys! In case any of you cares, me and the Filipino Mafia have this comic book project going on right now. I got this freelance gig and I am really grateful to Sir Erez Y Balen and Tom Foster for choosing me to be the comic book illustrator for their novel and also to The Filipino Mafia–Luis, Liz, Carlo & Mike as they’ve been guiding me to accomplish this since day one. This is a group project by Sir Erez Y Balen, Tom Foster and The Filipino Mafia–Luis, Liz, Vin, Mike & Carlo.

Sir Tom Foster and Erez Y Balen sent me their novel and they gave me the artistic license and right to turn their novel into a comic book. Luis, Liz, Mike & Carlo have been helping me, writing and illustration wise on converting the said novel to comic book form. The digital painting on the left side is a collaboration between Luis, me & Liz. The text on the word balloons on the interior pages are ideas and are also written by Carlo, me & Mike. As of this writing, I am currently done with the first part and I am currently taking a rest for a day or two.

The image on the right side is the back cover of the graphic novel. I hope you guys will support us once this is all done. You can grab a copy once it is published and finally converted into printed comic book form. I will update this blog post and put the link where you can buy the comic book once everything is all set and ready for you guys to consume this comic book.

This is also my second “international” comic book work that I have done. The very first one is with Swampcone Magazine–an indie comic book magazine in Vancouver, Canada. Although, they now have stopped producing new issues of the magazine.

The other members of the Filipino Mafia–Luis, Liz, Carlo & Mike also made a blog post promoting our work on our website, GNES. This is not only “my illustration or writing” work but instead a “group work” together with The Filipino Mafia. Of course, Sir Erez Y Balen and Sir Tom Foster are the overall writers of the novel we’re converting into a graphic novel.

Cheers, Vin

Welcome To The Online Portfolio Of Vin

Hello, I am Arvin Valenzuela–Vin for short. Welcome to my online portfolio website. I am a Comedian. Musician. Filmmaker. Comic Book Creator. Miserable Person Because of Internet Trolls.

I am a 4th year Civil Engineering drop out from Mapua Institute of Technology at Intramuros, Manila. I took a short course on 3D Studio Max at MicroCadd in Cubao, Quezon City–the certificate is officially credited by Autodesk. I was granted a scholarship award for two 6-month short course on 2D & 3D Animation at Korea – Philippines IT Training Center in Novaliches, Quezon City.

However, I only studied 2D Animation at the school stated. Afterwards, I studied at De La Salle College of Saint Benilde and I am a graduate of two associate degrees (four semesters for each associate degree as it’s considered a short course) on Animation, 2D & 3D from the college mentioned.

After I graduated I had two regular day jobs as a graphic artist, copywriter and as a 3D artist–at Brand Benefits Advertising Inc., somewhere at Mother Ignacia, Quezon City and at Ludipass Studio Manila at Boni, Mandaluyong. I worked at those jobs for a year. Now, I am a full-time freelance illustrator, comic book creator, 3D/graphic artist and I also belong to a group of writers and artists–The Filipino Mafia and we have created a couple of Netflix movies, including “Divine Intervention,” the original movie, the prequel and its sequel, entirely made in 3D.

I wrote a part of the e-book novel, “Silly Persons.” I wrote the very first chapter of the book.

I am also a co-founder, alongside Luis Buenaventura, Liz Buenaventura, Mike & Carlo of the soon-to-be entertainment company, GNES. Liz Buenaventura is my fiancé and Luis is my soon-to-be brother-in-law, Carlo & Mike are my blood brothers. Enough said. Thank you for your time. I hope I can be of service to you. Cheers, Vin

Comic Book Work

I have been creating webcomics and my own comic books since November of 2014-2019.

I’ve been a part of two comic book anthologies which the group, “Chain Mason” made. Chain Mason is the name of a group of comic creators I belong to several years ago but I quit the group a year or so after I joined them–some of my co-comic book creators in this group are: Kahlil Baet, Alab Memei, Patrick Enrique, Mik Fajardo, Sherwin Sablaon, Carlo Valenzuela, John Aeron Tepace, David Sysing, Emman Centeno & Richard Arguilla.

I also have two “international” comic book work under my belt. The first one is with SwampCone Magazine and the second one is the graphic novel, “Meat My Uncle,” by Tom Foster, Erez Y Balen & The Filipino Mafia–Luis, Liz, Carlo, Mike & myself. You can read a bit of info about this here and here.

Selling 2nd Hand/Preloved Items

Hi and hello, people! I sometimes sell 2nd hand/preloved items on my Carousell account. If you’re interested on buying any of my items, contact me on Carousell–this is only applicable to people residing within Metro Manila as shipping items outside of Metro Manila is such a hassle for me.
